We had a blast. Tons of pictures, mostly in three settings; Craigdarroch Castle, Butchart Gardens, and the city of Victoria. Lots of fun at all the spots. We had two great dinners at two different Tapas places, and high tea at Butchart Gardens. The gardens were spectacular.

I did a few short hikes that added up to about 10 miles...it was fantastic. These were hikes I hadn't done before, mostly due to the fact that Canyon Creek Rd. had been closed for most of the time we'd lived here.
Skip the reading and just to to all the pics, (click here).
The hiking was great. I started at the Damfino Lakes Trailhead, Mike Westonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15131682195441510843noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32138092.post-2391201797074076342015-07-27T20:54:00.001-07:002015-07-27T20:54:07.068-07:00Artist and Bagley Lakes with BWe went up with B to Artist Point and Bagley Lakes today. For those not familiar, this hike brings you to the brink of the Coleman Glacier on Mt. Baker. It is also the trail that leads to the most popular climbing route to the summit of Baker.
It was a perfect day! Sunny but not too hot. We made it to the ridge which is saying something - had to cross through 4 creeks/waterfall things, one of which was Mike Westonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15131682195441510843noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32138092.post-45872943794020008172015-07-11T19:16:00.002-07:002015-07-11T19:16:59.987-07:00Summer Fun!It's been awhile, but here's a bunch of pic's from the summer. We were there for about a week. The weather was beautiful, the water was warm, and we had a great trip. Brennan was sick with a cold for Mike Westonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15131682195441510843noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32138092.post-14725380024854665302015-01-16T18:38:00.002-08:002015-01-16T18:38:53.782-08:00Still ThereWent snow-shoeing this week! Two things struck me immediately: 1) there is no snow! Ok, not literally, but comparatively speaking, the snow-pack is a fraction of what it should be and the condition of the snow is terrible. 2) It is as beautiful as always...the mountains are still there and still awe-inspiring.

We had a few things over the past few days: 1) our church participated in a Community Toy Store, which Brennan and I visited (pic's of him with Santa came from there); 2) B took part in a Children's Musical at our church (the shepherd pics); and 3) We went to Snowflake Lane in Bellevue.

It was fun! Super fun. A great day - hot, but not unbearably hot...just right! The full loop is about 7.4ish miles...Julie's iphone app kind of petered out so not positive on exact mileage - but who cares. You just want to see the pictures.

For those who still don't know, I was blessed to receive a 10 week sabbatical earlier this summer. If you want to read about the spiritual side of that time, go to my other blog, worshipmatters.net. We ended up with 10" of snow. It was pretty amazing...started snowing late Saturday afternoon, started sticking Saturday evening, and literally the snow didn't let up until late Sunday night. Snowed for over 24 hours straight!
It was a very wet, slushy, heavy snow. All day Sunday and overnight we had branches snapping, power flickering, lost our phone/internet/tv service, and at least Mike Westonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15131682195441510843noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32138092.post-26164115724118289382014-02-08T17:32:00.002-08:002014-02-08T17:32:47.318-08:00Whatcom Falls in IceSo in case you haven't noticed, it's been pretty cold lately! Yesterday I joined over 700,000 people crammed into downtown Seattle to celebrate the Seahawks parade. It was madness, it was cold, it was crowded, but is a memory I'll have for a long time. I don't think I've done that much walking in a long time, however...

It was super fun!

There was presents, eating, walking, more presents, more playing, more eating, then we opened some more presents, and ate again. Then we went to Whidbey Island and opened presents, and ate. Get the theme?
And for sure, we took time to sing "Happy Birthday to Jesus" and Mike Westonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15131682195441510843noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32138092.post-6181933977675108492013-12-09T12:35:00.000-08:002013-12-09T12:35:24.593-08:00Snowflake LaneFor the 2nd year in a row, we made a trip to Bellevue to Snowflake Lane! The bonus was Mama and Dada got most of their Christmas shopping done. :-)
Brennan's love for drums and drumming can be traced back to Snowflake Lane 2012...this year was no different. He loved it! It was very, very cold! But fun.

Julie and I were able to spend 3 days in Whistler. It was beautiful and each day was different. Thursday was a partly sunny day, Friday it snowed all day long and evening (the village was right at freezing...it finally started sticking at night), and Saturday was clear and sunny. Saturday they opened Whistler for skiing, although only 4 lifts were opened. Still it was kind of fun to be up there Mike Westonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15131682195441510843noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32138092.post-6857596548911292082013-10-28T14:43:00.004-07:002013-10-28T14:43:41.166-07:00Fall Colors, Sunsets, and Life in B'hamI've been enjoying the amazing October we've been having by dragging my camera with me almost every time I leave the house. It's been an amazing Fall, and unusual for us in the Northwest - unusual rain in September, and unusual sun/fog/no rain all October. Most importantly, we haven't had any wind (until yesterday). All of that has made for a gorgeous, "long" fall, where the leaves stay on the Mike Westonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15131682195441510843noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32138092.post-78777050197793455102013-09-22T19:26:00.001-07:002013-09-22T19:26:30.131-07:00Granville Island, Artist Point, and Whidbey IslandSo I have three albums/collections of photos from the past 2 months that I just never got around to uploading/blogging, so here they are! Julie, Brennan and I joined the rest of the "Greene/Weston/Scheid" family and went camping at Silver Lake to celebrate the end of summer. We had a blast!
